Using a looping technique made famous by KT Tunstall and Keller Williams, Brian Martin’s solo act is one of very few to build songs live in front of his audience. His music draws inspiration from the likes of Coldplay, Guster and Tonic, but has also been known to have eclectic hip-hop and techno influences when constructing music onstage. All of Martin’s live songs, including loops, are made ‘organically’ and without the help of synthetic beat machines or electronic instruments.

2010 marks an exciting year for Martin, as he releases “Half-Sleeve,” the follow-up EP for 2007′s DIY effort, “The Road We Share”. Again band-less, Martin, a musician of many talents, layered his own percussion, bass and piano tracks over a 2 day period at White Star Sound in Virginia. The result is an EP that is deep without being over-produced, strong without screeching, and soaring without sap. Martin’s ability to convey his story-telling with an emotional spirit is an added bonus to the quality melodies and fun beatboxing that makes his live show all the more interesting to experience.
